USTA League Tennis - TEAM CAPTAIN INFORMATION

Team Captain Information

The purpose of this page is to provide helpful guidelines and “how to” information for being a successful captain. When accessing the usta.com website, we encourage you to have your USTA and team league number nearby, as you will need to reference these periodically in order to gain access to the many tools necessary to efficiently manage your league team. The following is an easy step-by-step process to these tools:

  1. USTA.com – from the main page, click
  2. Tennis Link  - located in the upper right corner.
  3. Leagues – There are several ways to access your team information. For example, player name, team name, or through “my teams.”

From there, you will see on the top navigation bar the following categories:

  • Team Summary: This will outline the player names, team standings, and team matches.
  • Match Summary: This will outline the matches’ dates/times/locations, including a summary of the matches.
  • Match Schedule: This will outline the matches’ dates/times/locations.
  • Player Roster: This will outline the players on your team.
  • Blank Scorecard: This print out will allow you to make note of the players and their respective scores during the match.

F.A.Q.
Listed below are some of the frequently asked questions of team captains.

Where do I locate the match schedule for my respective team?

Under “team summary” you then click on “match schedule” which will outline the match ID, schedule date/time, and the home & visiting team captains. Or, you can CLICK HERE FOR MATCH SCHEDULES (link to http://tennislink.usta.com/leagues/).

Where do I locate a scorecard for a match?

Under “team summary”, scroll down to “team matches” and click on the date of the match. The scorecard will also pre-populate the names of the home & visiting team.

Where do I locate the team standings?

Under “team summary,” scroll down to “team standings” and click on the team name to view the team summary. It is important to notate how many matches the respective teams have completed, as this will give you a better comparison on the actual standings.

Once the match is finished, where do I enter the scores?

Under the tennis link leagues main page, on the right side under “league play” is a link to “record a score.”( http://tennislink.usta.com/leagues/scorecard/ScoreMatchNumber.asp) which will then require your USTA number. Once you enter this information, you can follow the prompts to record the match scores.

Put your leadership skills to action by being a Team Captain!

We are always encouraging our members to apply their organizational and team building skills by leading one of the many league teams to victory. Working closely with one of our USPTA Pro’s, you will be the primary liaison between the players and the league information. This will include communicating with the Pro’s who can play so they may set the line-up, tracking and recording the match scores, and offering words of encouragement to your team members. If you would like to learn more, please visit our Team Captain Information page (please link to the “be a league team captain info page”). Or, if you’re interested in signing up to be a Team Captain, please click below to begin the sign-up process.
